Structure & Governance
General Structure
Agrinatura operates through a transparent and participatory governance structure, ensuring active member involvement in strategic decision-making.
Agrinatura, the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development, is an association of 35 European universities and research centres from 16 European countries supporting agricultural research and development (ARD) by:
- Establishing research project consortia.
- Leading science-policy dialogue.
- Providing an evidence-based knowledge platform and capacity building to improve the livelihoods of farmers and their communities.
Board of Directors
The Board provides strategic direction, oversees implementation of the work programme, and ensures alignment with Agrinatura’s mission and Strategy 2030.

General Assembly
The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body, composed of all member institutions. It meets annually to approve strategy, membership decisions, and major organisational matters.

Secretariat
The Secretariat supports both the Board of Directors and the General Assembly. It coordinates daily operations, communication, project management, and member engagement.

EEIG Governance
Agrinatura operates most of its business activities through Agrinatura EEIG (European Economic Interest Grouping), governed by European Regulation 2137/85 and relevant French legislation (Law 89.377 of 13 June 1989, amending Law 67.821 of 23 September 1967).
All members of the EEIG are also members of the Agrinatura Association.
Its governance is organized as follows
- Members Assembly – The main decision-making body of the EEIG, chaired by Agrinatura’s President who acts as the legal representative and spokesperson.
- Director – Responsible for project implementation, development of new business opportunities, and coordination of scientific activities.
