ERAIFT Projects (2020–2029)

ERAIFT projects are funded by the European Commission and operated by Agrinatura and ERAIFT, which is the UNESCO Regional Post-Graduate Training School on Integrated Management of Tropical Forests and Lands, located in the Republic Democratic of Congo, with a regional scope.
A first project was operated between 2020 and 2025, and focused on capacity building of biodiversity practitioners, scientists, and policy-makers for sustainable management of protected areas and forests ecosystems in Africa. It consisted in theoretical and practical training, generating training and extension material, strengthening on-site educational infrastructures, supporting policy-making, capitalisation and communication. 120 graduates, 14 PhD, and 450 participants to training sessions were involved.

A second project is currently operated (2025-2029), implementing similar activities. In addition, it specially focuses on strengthening the capacity among managers of protected areas and priority natural ecosystems, as defined by the NaturAfrica programme. Therefore, training and academic activities focus specifically on current and future park-managers, under a Masters-level, certified programme. More than 200 trainees are expected have graduated at the end of the project.
