About our Projects

Agrinatura coordinates and participates in EU-funded and international projects that address key global challenges in agricultural research and sustainable development. Our portfolio focuses on:

Our initiatives integrate research, policy dialogue, field implementation, and capacity building to ensure that scientific knowledge translates into tangible impact.

Through its members, Agrinatura works in close collaboration with research institutions, universities, producer organisations, private sector actors, civil society, and policy bodies—particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

These partnerships foster co-creation of knowledge and support locally adapted, evidence-based solutions.

By building long-term partnerships between European and non-European institutions active in Agricultural Research for Development (ARD), Agrinatura contributes to strengthening global research ecosystems and promoting sustainable, inclusive agricultural transformation.

Projects

VCA4D (Value Chain Analysis for Development; since 2016)

VCA4D (Value Chain Analysis For Development; since 2016) is funded by the European Commission. The service facility is operated by Agrinatura and analyzes agricultural value chains on a case-by-case basis (one commodity or product, one country, typically), using a standardized, multidisciplinary, and quantitative methodology, producing evidence-based recommendations—including for corporate actors and value chain investors—on sustainability pathways.

Sustainable Agrifood Systems Intelligence – Science Policy Interface (SASi-SPi) 2023-2027

Sustainable Agri-Food Systems Intelligence – Science-Policy Interface, SASi-SPi 2023-2027 is funded by the European Commission and operated by Agrinatura. The programme aims to support transitions towards more sustainable Aquatic and Agri-Food Systems in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

DeSIRA LIFT+ (2026–2029)

DeSIRA LIFT+, implemented by Agrinatura and managed by the European Commission/DG INTPA F3, aims at supporting the DeSIRA+ initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa. DeSIRA+ is a €100M (plus EU Member States) initiative aimed at supporting agroecological, ecosystem and nature-based transitions in agriculture and food systems in Africa by boosting innovation at scale with support of research. The objective of the DeSIRA LIFT+ facility (€3M) is to support the DeSIRA+ initiative for better coherence and synergies of the DeSIRA+ interventions by (i) fostering dialogue among the implementers, partners and policy makers, (ii) providing tailored services, and (iii) producing actionable knowledge for innovation at scale in line with agroecological principles.

NRF (Nutrition Research Facility; 2020–2026)

NRF (Nutrition Research Facility; 2020-2026) is funded by the European Commission, and operated by Agrinatura. The facility aims to provide improved knowledge and evidence for policy and programme design, management and monitoring & evaluation in order to reach better nutrition outcomes.

ERAIFT Projects (2020–2029)

ERAIFT projects are funded by the European Commission and operated by Agrinatura and ERAIFT, which is the UNESCO Regional Post-Graduate Training School on Integrated Management of Tropical Forests and Lands, located in the Republic Democratic of Congo, with a regional scope.
